In 1934 Karl had a nervous breakdown at bethel. Why? Baptized at 12 he didn't go door to door till he was 18....while serving as a TEENAGE ELDER. Is bethel life hard? "Rutherford even though he REPEATEDLY had reason to reprove me for breaking some rule....I remember one time when he gave me a BLUNT REPROOF. The next time he saw me he said cheerily "Hello Karl." But because of still feeling hurt I just muttered a greeting. He said "KARL WATCH OUT, THE DEVIL IS AFTER YOU!" Embarrased I replied: "Oh there's nothing Brother Rutheford." President Knorr invited me to join the Writting department...when I told him it didn't matter where I served HE REPROVED ME saying when an added privlege of service is extended we SHOULD be eager to except it...my attitude was due to my prcarious health {breakdown} ...which had always been a problem.....we were like Brothers with the older one {knorr} being PRONE to express impatients to the younger ones {Karl's}shortcomings. In 1974 I was invited to join the Governing body...I NEEDED ENCOURAGEMENT to except it...he goes on to say how Fred Franz "encouraged" him to accept it. LOTS OF PRESSURE AT BETHEL TO DO MORE....even for a very sick old man like Karl.

This flat "no growth" has continued until 2012. I wonder if the devastation after the earthquake/Tsunami will finally cause an increase?

When will they merge the BS, TMS, WTS, T into one meeting ?
by mP init seems to me with all the times being cut from talks, you could save further time and simply smash all the meetings into one on the weekend.
this would also save the need for those extra kingdom hall songs, and one trip to the kh.
with all these savings, jws could easily double their ministry..

I had some drinks at dinner and confronted some "Brothers" on this issue.....they had no clear explination at all and seemed embarrased by the whole idea.
As I said: "Now the Gemeration that KNEW the 1914 generation is "the generation" DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE?....."
